Woo Hoo I did it -

I made it through a Christmas that I can look back on and say - "that was a really great Christmas!"

I did all the things I set out to do! We woke-up very late because  Santa had already came to our house. We pretty much have never had Christmas on  actual Christmas Day. We always wanted all three kids to be together while opening their presents so Christmas always fell on whatever day we had them all together. When they were little they didn't realize it wasn't Christmas Day and now that they are bigger it means they get to open presents early and they are cool with that.  I'm sure we are one of the few parents in country that got to sleep in this Christmas morning. I'm all about some sleeping in.

We had spent Christmas eve at the Gamble's - pretty much eating like pigs, drinking coffee, playing dirty Santa, talking about things the Lord had done for us. It was so enjoyable.

Christmas Day we went to Brian's around lunch and again ate like pigs, watched a movie, played games, apparently Brian and Kevin had an all day NCAA 2011 marathon going on so we seen very little of them. We were scared they might have been missing us the next day soooo we went back and basically done the same thing again.

Monday we took all three kids and went to Poppa and Nanny's (Tr and Terri's) new cabin at Smith lake and had Christmas again there with them. Kevin and I left the kids there with them for a few days - Lucky kids! Tr is in a hunting club near by and is taking the boys hunting every day! CeAnna even said on the way down there that she might go hunting one day with Poppa! She said she wanted to kill a deer like Lauren Gaines did! I tried my best to talk her out of it. I told her "the gun would kick" and then I told her "if she did kill a deer that she'd feel bad about after she shot it!" She seemed pretty determined when we left to go - we shall see!?!

We drove from Smith Lake to Huntsville and had dinner with Theresa and Greg. We played this fun game called Ten Little Indians and Phase 10 both were supper fun games that I had never played before. It was funny because I was totally being silly and Greg said "Angie is in rare form tonight" and I had almost forgotten - because it has been so long since we have been without them but I'm a total goofball when the kids are not around! It's truly amazing how much I laugh and cut-up when their not around! I guess it just the fact that I have no one to worry about!

Today Blake was texting me while he sat in a shooting house. He said "a  four point deer was walking all around him but because Poppa's Hunting club rules it was too small to shoot." I know that had to about kill him. Blake loves everything about hunting and I believe that would have been his biggest one. We are hopeful that tomorrow that four pointer comes back and brings his daddy with him!!!

I hope you all have a great week!

A bag of maggots for Christmas... but only if your really, really good!

Awhhhhh - you know that Christmas melt down I refused to have this year???..... Naw, just kidding, I'm still good! Christmas is fastley approaching and I do mean FAST-LEY! I'm still on my path of least resistance as far as the Christmas hassle goes. Looking forward to spending Christmas break with my youngens.

I was trying to think of my best childhoods memory as far as Christmas goes.
The one that stick out the most is the year I got my deluxe science kit. It had a large frog in a bag of formaldehyde in it. I can remember dissecting it and thinking "I'm probably the only girl in the world dissecting a frog on Christmas morning!"

and who can forget the year I gave TR and Terri maggots for Christmas! Yes, MAGGOTS! I always worry the most about what to get them. So one year I bought them this really nice bird feeder and like 10lbs. of birdseed. I had wrapped it weeks in advance and stuck it all under the tree. I was so excited when they were opening it until I realized the bird seed was moving and the reason it was moving..... it was full of maggots!!! I about died! TR took it like a trooper and assured me that "birds love to eat worms" and it would be fine. So the next year as they were opening their gift from us - I said "don't worry we didn't get you maggots this year!"

How is it that the things that embarrassed the most are the things we look back and and laugh the hardest at?

Oh, and while I'm telling on myself let me tell you about the year Brian (no joke) was cutting carrots for Rodolph and almost cut his finger completely off! We spent that Christmas eve in Arab ER. He got a lot of stitches in his index finger. I have a picture of him holding up the BB gun that Santa got him and it's so funny cause he has a huge bandage on his had and its covering up most of the gun.

Seriously, I hope this Christmas brings - something we will all look back on and laugh at!

The top 10 things about 2010

Hey everyone! Hope this time of season finds you all in good spirits! It almost Christmas time. The time of year we celebrate our dear saviors birth. I'm determined this year to focused on that. I'll be the first to admit I'm usually stressed out to the gills worried if I got the kids enough. Or how I'm going to handle the in-laws. Or better yet  how am I going to handle my own family :) Worry, worry, worry.
This year I'm going to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! I've got very little shopping done and thats okay. I know what the kids want and I plan on doing all my shopping last minute. That way I can't be saying, I think I'm going back because I feel like this is not enough! Whatever they get WILL be enough. Whatever they get will be plenty.

Statistics show that Christmas is the most depressing time of year for most Americans. I believe that is true. I'm sure Jesus would want his birthday to be a time of joy not depression. So this year I'm going to do my part to say, Happy Birthday Jesus I'm so glad you were born!
